Team Vihtavuori Wins Southwest Nationals
Sedalia, MO –Team Vihtavuori won the Southwest Nationals F-Open Grand Aggregate Team Award with a score of 2589-156X (out of a possible 2600) this past week, February 14-18th.
Team Vihtavuori achieved the overall victory by, first, winning the Palma Team Match with a score of 1790-111 (out of a possible 1800). Then followed with a 799-45 in the 1,000 Yard Team Match. Congratulations to Vihtavuori team members Gwen Basalla, Brandon Swahr, Matthew Basalla, Tracy Harrold, and Doug Skogman, with Norm Harrold as Coach and Tim Vaught as Team Captain.
Additionally, team members Tim Vaught, Norm Harrold, and Tracy Harrold added individual accomplishments taking 2ndplace, high senior, and high woman respectively in the F-Open Grand Aggregate individual awards, adding an exclamation point to Vihtavuori’s dominating results.
The 2024 Southwest Nationals were held February 14-18 at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, AZ. Hosted by the Desert Sharpshooters Rifle Club, the prestigious Southwest Nationals is the “must-attend” event for competitive long-range shooters around the world. The Southwest Nationals features F-Open, F-TR, and Sling disciplines. Competitors from over 5 different countries were in attendance.
