Sedalia, MO – Team SK’s Kaitlin Benthin brought home the Lady’s Championship title for the 2nd year in a row at the Area 8 Steel Challenge. With a grand aggregate score of 78.09, Benthin had an overall finish of 13 out of 243 competitors and moved up to Grand Master in Rimfire Rifle Open and Pistol Caliber Carbine Open.
Benthin’s results were as follows:
- Pistol Caliber Carbine Optics (PCCO) 1st Master, 1st Lady, 4th overall
- Pistol Caliber Carbine Iron (PCCI) 1st GM, 1st Lady, 1st overall
- Rimfire Pistol Open (RFRO) 1st Lady, 2nd Master, 8th overall
- Rimfire Pistol Iron Sights (RFRI) 2nd Lady, 3rd GM, 4th overall
- Master Class 2nd and 3rd Overall
- Grand Master Class 18th and 19th Overall
- Fastest PCCO and PCCI times on Outer Limits
The 2022 Area 8 Steel Challenge Championship, hosted by the Greater Richmond Blasters, took place May 13 – 17th at the Cavalier Rifle and Pistol Club in Montpelier, VA. In a Steel Challenge match, competitors shoot eight courses of fire, each having five steel targets as small as a 10” round plate up to 18×24” rectangles. With competitors shooting out to the 35-yard line, they shoot the plates as fast as they can. Each stage is shot five times, except for the Outer Limits stages, which is shot four times from two different positions.
“The first major competition I used SK Ammunition in was the 2021 Area 8 Steel Challenge Championships, and I won the Ladies Division. In 2022, SK ammo ran flawlessly again and helped me defend my 1st place Lady title for the second year in a row at Area 8,” commented Benthin.” Next is Area 5 Steel Challenge Championships where my goal is to finish in the top 3 of the Ladies Division.”
